Oil-gas separation tank
The oil-gas separator is positioned between the submersible centrifugal pump and the protector, separating free gas from the well fluid. The liquid is then sent to the submersible centrifugal pump, while the gas is released into the annular space between the tubing and casing.

An oil-gas separator is a device that separates crude oil produced from the well from its accompanying natural gas. Positioned between the submersible centrifugal pump and the protector, the separator isolates free gas from the well fluid, sending the liquid to the submersible centrifugal pump while allowing the gas to escape into the annular space between the production tubing and casing.
Sometimes, separators are also used for the separation, buffering, and measurement of multiphase fluids such as oil, gas, water, and even sand and sediment. Visually, they generally come in three main forms: vertical, horizontal, and spherical.
1. The air compressor's oil separator tank features a safety valve located on the end cover. When the air pressure inside the oil separator tank reaches 1.1 times the set value, the safety valve automatically opens to release some of the air, thereby reducing the internal pressure. To check the safety valve, simply pull the vent lever gently while the compressor is running at full load. If the safety valve successfully vents air outward, it’s functioning properly.
2. The oil separator tank is equipped with a pressure gauge that monitors the pressure before filtration. At the bottom of the tank, there’s a drain valve, which should be opened periodically to release any water and contaminants that have settled at the bottom.
3. Next to the oil separator tank is a transparent oil-level sight glass that indicates the oil level inside the tank. The correct oil level is when the oil surface sits roughly midway between the upper and lower marks while the air compressor is running normally—too high, and oil will leak out; too low, and it could compromise the safety of the entire system.
4. Oil separation tanks are pressure vessels and must be manufactured by professional factories with the necessary manufacturing qualifications. Each oil separation tank comes with a unique identification number and a certificate of compliance.
